The solution

Network security, finally understandable

For professional firms and small businesses without an in-house technician, Strega Defence is the network protection service that closes the office to everything it does not need and alerts you only when it matters, in plain language. Unlike branded firewalls, it needs no skills and no licences to renew; unlike traditional managed services, it costs what a small office can afford.

In briefStrega Defence protects an office network and alerts the owner only when something that matters happens, explaining it in plain words on phone and computer. It is designed for organisations with no IT department: you do not need to read logs, understand firewalls or make technical decisions. Strega Defence blocks threats on its own and sends a clear alert explaining what happened and, when needed, when to call your technician. You pay a one-off activation and a flat monthly fee.
What it is made of

Two parts, one guardian

Strega Defence Box

The device that sits in your office, between the network and the internet. It closes everything that is not needed, lets everyday work through and watches the traffic. Two versions: One, for small offices, and Business, for larger companies.

Mobile app and web app

How the Box talks to you. Alerts arrive on your phone, with what happened, how serious it is and what to do; on the computer you see network status, history and actions.

The Box talks to the platform over an encrypted connection that it opens itself: no port needs to be opened towards the outside. Every automatic action is explained in a notification and logged.

01 · Simple

As easy as a household appliance

No logs to read, no menus to learn, no cryptic alarms, no technical decisions to make. Strega Defence acts on its own and every message says three things: what happened, how serious it is, what it has already done.

  • Installed in a few hours, without rebuilding the office network
  • Plain-language alerts on your phone
  • Threats blocked automatically, with no decisions to make
  • Updates and checks handled by us
Today
Menus for technicians, logs to interpret, cryptic alarms.
With Strega Defence
"Suspicious connection blocked from the Reception PC. No data left the office."
02 · Smart

It recognises what matters and filters out the noise

Sentinel watches the network continuously, connects different signals (connections, domain names, login attempts, line status) and recognises the situations worth reporting. In the first weeks it learns the office's habits and fine-tunes its alerts on its own.

  • Correlates different events instead of reporting them one by one
  • Blocks connections to addresses and domains known to be dangerous
  • Detects intrusions and repeated login attempts
  • Never repeats the same alert ten times
Today
A hundred identical alerts a day: after a week nobody reads them.
With Strega Defence
Few alerts, the right ones: different signals joined into a single situation.

Sentinel relies on curated detection rules, on the reputation of addresses and domains and on the Suricata intrusion detection engine. Our research works to make it ever better at learning on its own. research →

03 · Affordable

A flat fee, not a per-user licence

A one-off activation and a monthly fee that is the same for 3 or 30 people, with Box, updates, alerts, log and support included. No yearly renewals that switch off protection if you forget.

  • Less than half the price of a traditional managed service
  • No licences to renew, no per-user cost
  • Box included and replaced if it fails
  • Predictable cost, below the owner's sign-off threshold
Today
Yearly licence to renew, per-user cost, technician's time on top.
With Strega Defence
One activation and a flat fee: everything included, the Box too.

Plans and pricing

A typical day

Every alert says what, how serious, what to do

Most days Strega Defence stays quiet. When it speaks, it does so on the phone of the owner or contact person, and the trusted technician gets the same alerts in the right place.

Four real scenarios

Versions

A Box of the right size

Small offices, up to about 15 people

Strega Defence Box One

Compact Box, alerts and apps, weekly periodic report, support during office hours.

Companies up to about 50 people

Strega Defence Box Business

More powerful Box, backup internet line, weekly periodic report, priority support.

In short

Eight reasons, no jargon

It speaks your language. Every alert explains what happened and what to do, without jargon, straight on your phone.

Few alerts, the right ones. Sentinel filters out the noise and reports only what matters.

Installed like an appliance. No network project, no consultancy: the technician starts the Box in a few hours.

Clear pricing. One activation and a flat monthly fee, not tied to the number of users.

No surprises. Every automatic action is explained in a notification and kept in the Log.

Built on open technology. The firewall core is OPNsense, widely used open source software reviewed by a large community.

Local and close by. Installation and support in Italy, by our technicians and local partners; data stored in the European Union.

Useful for privacy. The Log and periodic report help demonstrate the security measures required by the GDPR and by clients subject to NIS2.

Honesty

What Strega Defence does not do

We prefer to say it up front. If you need these things, we will happily point you to someone who offers them.

No 24/7 overnight monitoring

We do not run a security operations centre staffed through the night. Critical alerts still arrive immediately; support works office hours.

No inspection of encrypted traffic

We do not open employees' HTTPS traffic: a choice made for simplicity and respect for privacy.

Not a replacement for antivirus or backup

It protects the network. Computers still need their antivirus and data still needs a backup copy.

It does not make you "compliant" on its own

It helps demonstrate the security measures required by the GDPR and NIS2 clients; compliance remains the organisation's own journey.

It also does not include, so it stays a simple product with a clear price:
  • redesigning the office network (for example separate networks for printers, guests or cameras);
  • configuring computers, printers, NAS, Wi-Fi and phone systems;
  • cabling, network cabinets and extra equipment;
  • on-site interventions after go-live, except replacing the Box if it fails.
If needed, this work can be done by your trusted technician or a Strega Defence partner, under a separate agreement.
Frequently asked questions

Everything you would like to ask

What is Strega Defence?

It is a network protection service for professional firms and small businesses without an IT department. A Box sits between the office and the internet, closes what is not needed and watches the traffic; when something that matters happens, a plain-language alert reaches the owner's phone with what happened, how serious it is and what to do.

Do I need to change my router or rebuild the office network?

No. The Box also works behind the internet provider's router, which often cannot be removed. The site visit is there to choose the best connection. Go-live takes a few hours and the office is without internet for an hour at most.

Does Strega Defence act on the network on its own?

Yes, and that is exactly the point: security decisions are made by Strega Defence, not by the owner. It automatically blocks dangerous connections, suspicious logins and countries that attacks come from; if a computer behaves abnormally it isolates it from the network until a technician checks it. Every action is explained to you in a notification and kept in the Log.

How much does it cost?

A one-off activation and a flat monthly fee, whatever the number of people in the office. The planned launch prices for the pilot programme are €89 a month for the Studio plan and €149 a month for the Business plan, excluding VAT, with the Box included on loan.

Does Strega Defence make my office GDPR or NIS2 compliant?

No product, on its own, makes an organisation compliant. Strega Defence helps demonstrate security measures: the Log records logins, decisions and changes, and the periodic report is ready to show clients, auditors or the data protection authority, or to attach to questionnaires from clients subject to NIS2.

Where does my network data go?

To the Strega Defence platform hosted in data centres in the European Union, over an encrypted channel opened by the Box itself: no inbound port is opened in the office. By default devices are pseudonymised in reports and browsing logs are kept to a minimum.

Can my trusted IT technician work with you?

Yes, we hope so. The partner programme gives them a console for all their clients, training and reserved terms. The clients they bring remain theirs: we never contact them directly.

Does it work for people working from home?

Yes. Strega Defence includes a WireGuard VPN for remote employees, with an alert for logins from unusual countries or repeated failed attempts.

Why are you called Strega?

"Strega" means witch, and we are from Benevento, the city of witches. Legend says a broom behind the door was enough against the janare: the witch had to count all its bristles before coming in. Strega Defence does the same with every connection.
